The New York Times has just released a new analysis of "Who Wins and Loses in Trump's Proposed Budget" and it isn't pretty. The EPA takes the biggest hit, losing 31 percent of its 2017 budget. Health and Human services loses 16 percent, taking heating assistance from the poor (let them eat cake) and stripping NIH spending by almost $6 billion. Times writer Robert Pear says this is a "nonstarter" due to bipartisan support for biomedical research. We can hope. There's a lot to parse, but check out this this graphic from the Times. We've all heard about the 24 million Americans who by 2020 will lose the health insurance they once had, but the Times has followed it out six more years. And bingo! We're almost back to square one, the dark days before Obamacare when 57 million Americans had no health insurance. The House votes on Ryan's plan on Wednesday. Make your calls!!! Posted by J. Palmer
