Current congressional districts need to be changed.
I find it most interesting that Joseph Scarnati, the top Republican in the state Senate, refused to provide information to the state Supreme Court after its ruling that the present Pennsylvania legislative map is unconstitutional.
The Supreme Court has requested that the Legislature and Gov. Tom Wolf work together to create a new map for establishing congressional districts. Justices have indicated that if lawmakers fail to comply with the order, the court will create a new legislative map.
I call on Scarnati to work with our court to create a legislative map that doesn't continue the present practice of gerrymandered districts.
I realize gerrymandering has been in practice for more than 200 years. That does not make it right, nor is it a valid justification to continue our present process.
GOP should cooperate in redrawing of maps
