Hurricanes have blown in during the month of September. The entire country followed the unbelievable destruction and misery that millions of our citizenry faced. Fortunately, Washington quickly responded. Even more amazing was the army of citizens that responded to the crying need for help. We have shown we have the will to aid those in need.
But September isn't over yet, and there is a looming crisis. The Senate is racing to present a new health care plan that must be voted on by Sept. 30. Thus far Congress has offered bills that offended the moral and ethical values we share. Americans have demonstrated against these bills, making their voices heard. Health care is a moral issue. Can we not show the same compassion we just demonstrated by ensuring that the millions of people who need health care will not be ignored or dismissed?
The Affordable Care Act needs a few immediate repairs that are not difficult to accomplish. We must remind our senators and representatives to rise to this occasion and once again demonstrate their commitment to the health of our citizenry so each member can be a productive participant in our society. We are watching.
Health care coverage is at risk once again
