For 44 years I was very fortunate to have worked for entities that provided family health insurance or permitted me to purchase it. At age 65 I transitioned to Medicare. A prior employer allows me to purchase supplemental coverage. How many Americans are so fortunate? Medicare for all would provide similar coverage. It would be costly, but unhealthy folks can't contribute 100 percent to keep America great.
A recent international survey of nations with the best retirement opportunities listed Norway in first place. Could that be because it provides single-payer health insurance, among other offerings? The president and members of Congress owe it to the citizens of the United States to make an in-depth study of the Norwegian program and report their findings to us. How we treat the least fortunate of our population matters to me.
