Costello's decision to step down shows how politicians depend too much on gerrymandering.
I read with interest the news that U.S. Rep. Ryan Costello decided not to seek re-election in the 6th Congressional District.
Costello is a politician who appeared to greatly benefit from the district's previous sprawling, heavily gerrymandered lines, so his decision comes as little surprise now that the playing field is more level.
Readers should contact state legislators and tell them to get SB 22 and HB 722 out of committees and brought for a vote to reduce the gerrymandering practice in Pennsylvania.
New system needed for drawing districts
