The Immigration and Customs Enforcement program at the Berks County Residential Center and elsewhere in the United States is an inherently wrong bullying of people fleeing from violent countries with the hope of a refuge where they can live at peace to raise their families.
The desire of most people is to live in a safe environment where children and grandchildren can be born, raised and grow old. Instead, this country is adding another horrendous chapter to the history of racial and ethnic violence it has had from its beginnings.
What is especially horrible about the policy toward war refugees and others fleeing violence is that instead of protecting this country from dangerous people and terrorist violence, we are raising a new generation of anti-American terrorists that our children and grandchildren will have to face.
Instead of creating good American citizens who bring unique and necessary cultural tools to this country, we are creating enemies who will keep our country at war for generations to come. To say the least, this is not patriotism, but the opposite of patriotism. This needs to be rectified before the consequences rebound and hurt our country more than these policies already have.
