Reps. Ryan Costello and Pat Meehan and Sen. Pat Toomey - our wonderful GOP (Gerrymandering Oligarchy Party) corporate representatives - have sold us down the drain in favor of big business. All three Republicans voted to pass a budget that takes from the elderly, sick and poor in order to give tax breaks to the big corporations and the top 1 percent.
This budget guts Medicaid and Medicare by about $1.5 trillion over 10 years so they can give that same amount in tax breaks to the top 1 percent. The basic flaw of the GOP plan is that it will balloon the federal deficit and not offset the budget hole by raising revenue or cutting major spending programs - other than social insurance.
Who will suffer? People in nursing homes, the majority of whom are on Medicaid. Middle-class Americans often rely on Medicaid for long-term services and supports when they exhaust their savings. In addition, Medicaid provides home and community-based services that allow seniors to stay in their homes.
Medicare beneficiaries cannot afford to pay more for less coverage, particularly when they have to devote much of their Social Security checks to pay for Medicare Parts B and D out-of-pocket costs for premiums and cost-sharing amounts.
Let's think about them when we go to the polls to vote. I say, throw the bums out.

Republican budget an absolute disaster
