I support legislation for redistricting reform (Pennsylvania House Bill 722 and Senate Bill 22) as well as for the recently filed lawsuit challenging the congressional voting district map for Pennsylvania ("Pa. lawsuit challenges district lines," Reading Eagle, June 16).
Partisan gerrymandering has been allowed to continue disgracefully by both major parties. Just because it has always been like this does not make it right for either party. I live in the 6th Congressional District, which looks like an ink stain splattered on a Jackson Pollock painting.
I urge people to contact their legislators and call for an end to this odious practice. I salute state Rep. Mark Gillen, a Republican, and state Sen. Judy Schwank, a Democrat, for their support of the above bills.
State in dire need of redistricting reform
