President puts interests of industry, wealthy ahead of workers..
President Donald Trump told supporters at a rally in Wilkes-Barre that his tariffs have led U.S. Steel to open seven plants. A spokeswoman for the company said no such announcement had been made.
Most Americans know that Trump is a pathological liar, the most dishonest man ever to hold high office in America. But his claim to stand with working Americans is one of his biggest lies.
Trump has been relentlessly anti-worker on every front. Trump is as populist as he is godly - that is, not at all. His tax cut mainly benefits corporations, and it has done nothing at all to raise wages.
He's also floating an idea of using executive action to cut taxes on the rich by an extra $100 billion.
There's also health policy. Having failed to repeal "Obamacare," Trump has engaged in a campaign of sabotage that has raised premiums almost 20 percent. The burden of the higher premiums falls most heavily on the working class.
And then there's labor policy. Trump has moved on multiple fronts to do away with regulations that have protected workers from exploitation, injury and more.
You also can look at the president's appointments. Important positions routinely are award to people with strong financial connections to industry. Labor interests have received no representation at all.
Instead of "draining the swamp," he is making it more putrid.
